For Caregivers:
Hospice of Knox County helps family members and friends of loved ones with life-limiting illnesses to be successful in the role of caregiver. Hospice understands it is difficult to prepare for this role and provide care for a person. Our Nurses and Hospice Aides will help educate you on how best to care for your loved one in between their visits, and our social workers will work side-by-side with you to make sure all other areas are covered. Volunteers are also available if requested.
Your Hospice team is there to help by providing medical, physical, personal care, and spiritual care help and advice as, together, we care for the patient.
After the passing of the patient, Hospice turns their attention to you, the caregiver. We understand your needs now are different. You will need support and encouragement, as will the other members of your family. A bereavement counselor will meet with you and discuss how Hospice can best help YOU, explaining what resources we have at your disposal. Our program is designed to help you through that all-important first year, but our groups continue after that if you desire.
